4.0 out of 5 stars The book was recommended by a sex therapist It was highly recommend by a sex therapist. Had every cure for every situation. I'm a therapist and I treat erectile "dysfunction" (this term is actually becoming dated and politically incorrect). Although books can't do the work that you need to do in therapy, I find this to be an invaluable resource that I have many of my clients purchase. Most erectile dysfunction can be treated with various cognitive and mindfulness-based therapies, and this book does a good job of summarizing, in plain language, lots of the basics and mechanics of this very treatable and very common problem. Content without reference to sources and more than a little useless for readers needing concrete ideas to assist them in issue of ED

When sexually stimulated/aroused, the nerves supplying the penis release a chemical, nitric oxide (NO). Nitric oxide is important because it stimulates the production of a chemical called cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). cGMP causes the muscle in arteries of the penis to relax and increase blood flow into the penis. NO is broken down in the body by phosphodiesterase enzymes. PDE5 inhibitors thus prevent the breakdown of NO and thus promote increased blood flow into the penis.
